It's a CMC "C"  Porsche Speedster Replica.  The "C" stands for a fender flairs wide body.  I took the kit and built it on a shortened pan from a 1969 VW Type 1.  I ended up taking everything off the pan and either I replaced, rebuilt or cleaned and brought back to new condition every piece you could find.  Literally every piece!  I started to build the kit in 1987 and finished it in 1988.  It started out as a VW, then became a kitcar, and then when it hit the street it was a Porsche.  Well, a Porsche Speedster Replica anyway.....  The first year it was finished, I placed it in ten VW car shows.  I received 12 awards for it, Nine 1st Place awards, a 2nd Place award, a Long Distance Award, when I took it to Oregon for a show, and  also a  Best Engineered Award.

It is now running a 2110cc Type 1 VW engine that was balanced and blueprinted.  The top of the windshield is only 43 inches from the ground and  clearance under the pan/engine has to be watched constantly.   Three inches and you are scraping something.  It wasn't too long after I built the 2110cc engine with a large capacity oil pan that I ran over a "nipple" in the road while I was accelerating.  The combination made for instant removal of most of the bottom end of the oil pan.

I am now in the process of changing to VDO Heritage - Gold gauges.  And it's time to redo the carpeting and seats.  I don't think a replica can ever really be finished....

The only bad thing about the 2110cc.....   is you always have to watch your....

Oh Shit!.
