This is some of the story of what I did to my VTX.

This page and pics were last updated on 09/07/2008 05:53:49 PM.

Well, finally got started on adding all the stuff I bought for my VTX.  I just got my tank back from G & L Body Shop. It is owned and run by Rich and Amber... or is it Amber and Rich???  Well anyway, they are located at 111 1/2 S Lewis, Monroe, WA. 98272.  Their contact info is  bodywork@gandlbodyshop.com, phone 360-794-8158, fax 360-805-9629.  They did an excellent job on my tank.  Dropped it off just a week ago and I picked it up today Friday, 06/10/05.

Click on their pic to visit them on the web.G and L Bodyshop located in Monroe, Washington.

This is the result of the talents at G and L Body Shop.  They got rid of "da ugly seam".  Can't imagine why Honda would build a fantastic bike and leave a seam that shows.

At least I don't need the plastic chrome tank trim anymore.

Not sure that I will miss it but it better than the seeing the seam!

Killer Paint, the place that painted my VTX.

Killer Paint. THE place to go

Here are some more pics of stuff for the bike.

This is what the inside of the "Quadzilla" Hoppe Fairing looks like.

Inside the stock "Quadzilla". I have different electronics....

And below is a pic of the inner side of the fairing.  This is the way I ordered mine.

Not sure which mounts this Quadzilla is set up for.

This is not the fairing or brackets for the VTX.

If you want to go to the Hoppe Homepage click on the pic above.

This weekend my job is to take off the front fender and to mount the Quadzilla Hoppe Fairing on the bike and then install the Pioneer DEH-P860MP with XM Adapter - the Marine Stereo cover, and the 4 - Infinity 5002i Speakers into it.  After I install everything and get everything to fit perfectly I then get to take it all apart to take it to Killer Paint for Carlos and Mike's artistic flair and their fantastic Tru Fire.  Go take a look at them.  You'll be amazed.

More of the VTX is built in America than a Harley.

Just got my Küryakyn Hypercharger Pro R from HDL today (June 6th 2005).  Looks like it will allow for more air as well as looking great!  Never even installed the Hypercharger Pro I bought a couple of months ago.  I think I have finally gotten to a point that you can have to much chrome!  Or at least to much duplication.

Still have a bunch of stuff on backorder.  There are 3 packages on the way though.  Wish I knew what they were!  arrrrgh!

Just got my 110 ci side cover, and chrome brake light cover.  Week of June 13th 2005.  (Have to return the brake cover as there was a scratch on it. argh!  Got the 2nd one and the chrome has brown spots in it.  Just can't win.)

Finally got the XM Digital Adapter and XM Tuner box from Terk today June 20th 2005.

June 20, 2005

Well, I got the fenders off and the tins are out getting painted.  They won't be done for 4 weeks though... argh!

June 22, 2005

Just ordered some Arlen Ness Ultimate Flame Mirrors today.   Never ending battle for more stufffff......

Arlen Ness "Ultimate Flame" great price too!

BTW, they are really too small to see behind you.  But I like the looks and that is why I am going to keep them!

Decided to buy more running lights for the trailer so ordered some new led lights for running and show lights.  Another 100 bucks down the drain....

Here are a couple of pics of what it looks like as of June 15, 2005.

Naked left side

My father came down and looked at the bike and asked "What did you do to it?"

Man, this is depressing, hope it all goes back together as well as it was...

(edited. It did get back together)

You can still see the metal filings from drilling the holes.

and after the hitch was installed. Wish it was all done!

After all this work, it was decided to put a fresh base coat over the all the pieces.  So I stripped the rear fender bare and will take it up on Saturday, June 25th, 2005.

Well, I went up on Sat. July 2nd 2005 and got a couple of pics of the tank and fairing.

Here is what the tank looked like when I left.

And here is the fairing.  Of coarse, it upside down in the pic.

Sunday, July 10, 2005

Well. I got to pick up my fenders and side covers.  The tank on fairing still have some more work to be done.  I was told they should be done by the end of next week.

Forgot the tire!!! Doesn't roll to well that way.

Here are a couple of pics on the batteries I am installing in place of the single battery box and tool box.  Decided to give it a try and see if it will power all my toys.  Actually found aHC-600 Super Cell AGM sealed battery.  It's a little larger than the stock battery.  I ended up putting them length wise in the bike next to each other.   Ran a new 4 gauge ground wire to the engine and am in the process of hooking up a six blade fuse box.  It has the six fused posts and 6 negative posts for all the toys.

Here is the fabricated bottom and you can see the new bracket I made for the sensor that is normally on the front of the tool box.

Here is a pic with the back install.

And here are a couple of pics of the battery(ies) install.

First, from the right side...

and with 2 batteries standing on the left side...

I cut off part of the metal that holds the rubber pieces on

the  right  side of the bike.  I will use the open area on the

battery to Velcro the fuse box on.

I got a little farther then the pics show.  I tied off all the wires  on the left side of the bike.  That includes the ECM (I think that is what it is called???) that normally sets on top of the battery.  I ended up putting it on the left side also.  I am worried about any water getting on it.  So, for now I have put it in a thick plastic bag and wire tied it up so it is mostly water proof.  I don't like the idea that it is on the left side exposed to the elements more than it was.  But, it wasn't completely water proof under the seat either.

Got the bike on the Dyno at Brothers Powersports in Bremerton WA. St.

Click on the Speedometer Button to hear one of the Dyno runs.

Actually, the fastest the bike got up to on the Dyno was 138 MPH.

Added another 5 HP to the bike by getting a custom map for the

Dynojet Power Commander USB III.

(Sorry, I haven't figured out how to get the background to shut up when you click on Hover button...

The Dyno run sound on the Speedo button.)
